The sun breaks through on a cloudy day The kids run wild while the swallows play Come hang with me Come hang with me Burst your way through the barricade Don't miss your chance to make lemonade Come hang with me Come hang with me 11 o’clock, he comes back home Laugh our way through a summer sneeze Cries of joy carry on the breeze Come hang with me Come hang with me Scare the pigeons in the local park Kick a ball 'til it all goes dark Come hang with me Come hang with me 11 o’clock, he comes back home 11 o’clock, he comes back home The streetlights flicker as your wander home The stench of whiskey drawing ever close Come hang with me Come hang with me Hold on tight to the way we felt Feel the sunshine as you feel his belt Come hang with me Come hang with me 11 o’clock, he comes back home 11 o’clock, he comes back home 11 o’clock, he comes back home

You guaranteed It was you I'd fancy We’d be Sid & Nancy A single room Outlawed and awkward I was your reward When I kidnapped you We tasted stars Dashed through a churchyard Moonlit and scarred My eye-lined prize Such adoration For this creation That had chosen me Ran quickly for the last time Stood appalled by the tabloid paradigm Their expression was so austere And when they snapped dear We had to disappear - and climb Our ravens called Took our frustration The same destination Our hands entwined Over to the dark sea We were Pan and Wendy As we could always fly

Everyone and no-one Are my celestial companions So there my fortune began Oh, oh, oh, with 13 million hurtful glances I wove around the cattle ‘Til I stumbled on an angel So let the whispering world be damned Oh, oh, oh, by 13 million hurtful glances Posted through a blackhole Our love trapped in a photo And through their camouflaged personas Oh, oh, oh, those 13 million hurtful glances Now a violent mist awakes me To a memory card of memories She no longer takes my hand Oh, oh, oh, those 13 million hurtful glances Oh, oh, oh Oh, oh, oh Oh, oh, oh, those 13 million hurtful glances

Oh Amy 03:48
Oh Amy You don't need to understand Oh Amy Why I no longer hold your hand The Tannoy calls you to platform five As the grey commuters flow Oh Amy Let me go Oh Amy Go home, be with your friends Oh Amy Go out and start again Put on your Docs and that vintage dress Let your heart be swept away Oh Amy, you'll be OK Oh Amy I guess I knew this day would come Oh Amy That I'd see you with someone My phone slipped onto our café floor With a tear that mourns for you Oh Amy I miss you I need you I love you I love you

(1,2,3,4) Her tidal mind flows across the media (too many sheep, too many sheep) As every day is getting weirder (too many sheep, too many sheep) With eyes stuck like flies to a web frozen perfectly still While shopping counterculture is failing to thrill The crowning of a fearless man While they orderly sway They orderly stay abused Descending back to where it began Into ashes and shame As the lashes that rain subdue Eternal seats for those forgotten (too many sheep, too many sheep) A celebration of feeling rotten (too many sheep, too many sheep) When she turns up the visual trash, she can drown out the world A plutocratic rage from a porcelain girl The crowning of a fearless man While they orderly sway They orderly stay abused Descending back to where it began Into ashes and shame As the lashes that rain subdue (1,2,3,4) (Too many sheep, too many sheep) (Too many sheep, too many sheep) (Too many sheep, too many sheep) (Too many sheep, too many sheep)

Half in (we were meant to be) Half out (we were meant to be) Half in (we were meant to be) Half out Float unaided on clear blue waters Hopefully wiser but certainly warmer Our little taster of luxury Sink together through dark grey clouds As we clamour to settle down Half in, half out, half in obscurity (We were meant to be) (We were meant to be) (We were meant to be) Rusty cage and a comfy bed Lazy fiction that’s making us lifeless Lethargic, passive poetry Trendy shoes and curious grins Wistful lows rip at our skin Half in, half out, half in obscurity Half in, half out, half in, half out (obscurity) Half in, half out, half in, half out Half in (we were meant to be) Half out (we were meant to be) Half in (we were meant to be) Half out Half in (we were meant to be) Half out (we were meant to be) Half in (we were meant to be) Half out A simple footnote records our hopes I guess we always were ready to coast Promising words lost to the sea A crumbling foothold to mute the noise Abandoned grudges we share and enjoy Half in, half out, half in obscurity Naked water that forms and flows On a bedrock of jealous tone As we torment ourselves to sleep Dress to kill as we wax and wane From disappointment that heavily weighs Half in, half out, half in obscurity Half in, half out, half in, half out (obscurity) Half in, half out, half in, half out Half in (we were meant to be) Half out (we were meant to be) Half in (we were meant to be) Half out Half in (we were meant to be) Half out (we were meant to be) Half in (we were meant to be) Half in obscurity

Hey You 04:12
Hey Paul Do you even remember her at all? The sangria was flowing at 2AM You disco danced and danced again Drunkenly joking “I'll see you then” Hey Paul Hey Dave I'm not sure why you chose to run away From the devastated tears that disguised Those endless emerald eyes As you texted your goodbyes Hey Dave My head starts spinning at forty-five Like our seven-inch anthem of youth My butterflies swarm, my lips are dry As I try to say - Hey you Hey Steve I think you said you needed room to breathe Like a coward who couldn't commit As the record sleeves were split Her perfect smile bewitched Hey Steve Hey Chris Why d'ya have to leave her lost like this Such a tribute to your slippery guile She was delicate and wild A paragon mother and child Hey Chris My head starts spinning at forty-five As my heart keeps the beat of our youth My butterflies swarm, my lips are dry As I try to say... Hey you I’ll wager you already know the truth My scrawny arms are strong and sincere I'm your timid cavalier The patron saint of fear Hey you

Delicate prince Did you sleep last night? My delicate prince Did your nightlight keep you warm and dry? Are you ready for a brand-new day? Delicate prince Did you dream last night? My delicate prince Was your fortune full of candied light? And are you ready for your brand-new life? Tell me, that you remember How the monsters used to lurk outside your door Hug me, like it's December When we had it all Turbulent prince Were you out last night? My turbulent prince Did you steal a kiss or steal a car? Tell me how far did you go with them? Turbulent prince Hell, you look so bruised My turbulent prince Did you use again to break my heart? Will you try to quit for one whole day? Tell me, that you remember How the monsters used to lurk outside your door Hug me, like it's December When we had it all Penniless prince Where'd you sleep last night? My penniless prince Did your rusty knife protect your life? Will you call me just to let me cry? And to tell me, that you remember How the monsters used to lurk outside your door To love me, like it's December When we had it all When we had it all When we had it all

We are forgotten steel And they fear the passion we feel Worn by the tarnished sky Somehow, we always burn brighter Down on that road to weariness We race with noble finesse We grasp for our elusive prize Somehow, we always burn brighter Hope on a lonely street Untethered the real world has nothing to say Shouting a beautiful score Together we’ll thrive in the virulent rain Cos, we dress like colourful clowns As they wear the deepest frowns March with honour one more time Somehow, we always burn brighter Hope on a lonely street Untethered the real world has nothing to say Shouting a beautiful score Together we’ll thrive in the virulent rain

Sitting in a daze in a sterile chair in silence Digging in my nails as the doctor reads your palm Walking round the halls in an antiseptic stupor Biting into flesh to muzzle my alarm A new day dawns Your determination's gone I must help you carry on! Hold on to me Hold on to me Sitting in the woods on a fallen tree without you Am I really crying if no-one's here to hear? Sodden by the rain as the baby blue tits squabble How I long to argue now you've disappeared A new day dawns My determination's gone Have I the strength to carry on? Hold on to me Hold on to me Hold on to me Hold on to me

about

"Badly Drawn Boy meets almost Johnny Marr type production. Astounding." (taken from a lovely post on Facebook)

"Kingfisher, is a thing of great indiepop beauty, stashed with beautiful melodies & arrangements, not unlike The Divine Comedy. Quality!" (taken from a lovely post on BlueSky)

'Kingfisher' is lyrically focused on the worries that trouble us through life’s voyage as we strive for love, survival, and acceptance. Often we may reach to the natural world to offer solace, melancholic comfort, embracing escape and spiritual guidance which is reflected through the tapestry of this album. The Kingfisher itself is a colourful and evolutionary triumphant creature that correlates to our own aspirations towards the brightness of success and is, perhaps, an un-credited mentor to many of the protagonists within these ten tracks.

'Kingfisher' stems from a firm decision to combine acoustic guitar, reverb rich twang and simple piano lines with modern orchestral sounds and vintage synthesizers to explore some original textures. Drum machines and a live drummer were both utilised while the bass mostly stems from my trusty Höfner violin bass. The album loosely falls into the chamber-pop genre although it is hoped some boundaries have been expanded with sprinkles of 80’s/90’s indie, electropop, classical orchestration and 20th Century Minimalism.
